The Rona As Some Call It

ree

The week of March 10th I went to Orlando Fl. Halfway through the trip things felt eerie. This time of year is Spring Break. I expected Orlando to be PACKED. I had made reservations for different restaurants ahead of time, planned extra time for commutes and parking. All of this was unnecessary. Apparently, no one lives in Orlando everyone is a tourist. I made reservations for Shula's Steak House which is located in the Swan Resort. When we arrived we walked to our seats and I just watched as we passed through a nearly empty restaurant. Passing through reminded me of walking through a deserted saloon in a desert town. There were maybe 2 people at the bar and 2 to 3 other tables with people.

The food there was AMAZING, but where was everyone?

That following morning it was announced that Disney world would be closed on Sunday! The park has closed before, but only for a day or 2. Prior to Covid-19 it has only closed 7 times since opening.

I did a number of activities without much of a crowd. I enjoy no crowds, but then I would remember the reason and it made things seemed gloomy.

Worries of "The Rona" really hit home when I was going through the airport to get back home. The TSA line next to me was closed and in comes these guys to clean up...

The next day I see a news story that a TSA agent tested positive for "the virus" @ the Orlando Airport!

Prior to that day, NC had less than 100 confirmed cases. The following Tuesday was my birthday and all of the places of fun announced they would be closed at 5 pm on that day. So after that, the numbers EXPLODED! Currently, we have 1,307 confirmed cases and 6 deaths.

I now work from home and abide by the social distancing guidelines. I rarely leave the house, but on occasion, I try to get out and get some air. I bought myself a treadmill for when it's not such nice weather and because I can't go to the gym.

If everyone would abide by the stay at home orders and keep their distance while out in public this could all be over much sooner.

I've made a shirt as a reminder for people to keep their distance when I'm hunting and gathering toilet paper and other essentials. Just click the shop button in the header to snag you one.
