Welcome to the blah, blah, blah blog. Here is something random from my life.
My first Photography Class assignment was to take 3 photos.
1. Photo of something yellow
2. Photo of something square
3. Photo of something square & yellow
Something Yellow

My peers and professor critiqued my photo. They considered the photo to be very sharp, made good use of the rule of 3rds, but I should have turned the duck "eye guiding".
What is the Rule of Thirds? The rule of thirds involves mentally dividing up your image using 2 horizontal lines and 2 vertical lines, as shown below. You then position the important elements in your scene along those lines, or at the points where they meet. A rule of thirds grid.
Something Square

Critique: It's a great photo. It makes you wonder the story behind this shed. Is there a dead body in there?
Something Square & Yellow

Critique: I love it. Your eyes scan the entire photo. The photo guides your eyes to look at Sponge Bob and the fox and back again.
